It's surprising that so many visas are allocated to non-immediate family members. That article states over twice as many are allowed vs. employment visas.

- int_19h 8y agoIt's a quirk of the American immigration system in general - it's tilted towards family migration more so than skilled migration, especially in contrast to pretty much all other developed countries.
- captainredbeard 8y agoSounds like a quirk we should correct.
- int_19h 8y agoTo any US citizen who is interested in fixing immigration - regardless of what they mean by it - I would recommend going to the official government websites for US and Canada that describe the various available paths, and just going through what's there for the immigrants. Pretend you want to try this or that out, they usually have stuff there like eligibility tests etc. It'll give you a much better picture - of the present, and the possibilities - than anything you'll ever see in mainstream American news on the subject. https://my.uscis.gov/exploremyoptions https://my.uscis.gov/exploremyoptions https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.ht...
