Can you tell the difference between recompressed 1080p and the virgin source? What about 4k? I highly doubt I can but maybe I don't know what to look for.

- leeoniya 8y agodepends on thr compression settings. it takes 6x longer to compress with good quality using software x264 than hardware like intel's quicksync, amd's vce or nvidia's nvenc. when compressing via x264 with good settings, i cannot tell the difference. usually you can tell from blocking artifacts in areas of smooth colors like fog or out of focus backgrounds. try pausing during these scenes.
