For an app that I'm working on, we're storing Dates/Times canonically as a a recurrence rule of Dates, plus a Time/several start times in event local time zone.

For an app that I'm working on, we're storing Dates/Times canonically as a a recurrence rule of Dates, plus a Time/several start times in event local time zone. Internally for indexing purposes, we expand the dates + time into a series of datetimes at UTC, at which point we can easily search on them.
