Whats the difference between personal dns server, vs using google, and opendns? Arnt u resolving to that?

  Unbound resolves to root DNS servers. They are the authorities on the domains they advertise.

  DNS protocol is largely a single UDP packet. In China the packet can be sniffed and dropped according to its content. So even if you switch to 8.8.8.8, your ISP can still tamper it.
