I can somewhat understand that you like that the people who tell you what to do don't have power over you. But doesn't that imply that people that you don't work with much have power over you? Is that better?
- stephenboyd 8y agoGood point. I've noticed that risk, but it hasn't been a problem so far. Maybe it's not much different from the risk most developers have from being less familiar to their boss's boss and higher ups.
- gregmac 8y agoAs a society we've conditioned people that when your manager or someone in authority "asks" you to do something, it's not really a question. I think when that particular power dynamic doesn't exist, people are more willing to push back, question priorities or outright say no.
