From the article the parents are claiming that the child did not have an unusually high fever, and was acting fine.
There's nothing in the article about what the child's temperature actually was when he was kidnapped by authorities. Nor is there any information about other symptoms the child may have been experiencing.
Without this information it is not appropriate for anyone to be making judgements in either direction.
