If you live in California it's honestly better to just not know about it. Before reading that Wikipedia page I never batted an eye at golf courses in city centers, dilapidated shacks with huge yards bordering Google's HQ, or empty lots worth millions sitting undeveloped in the middle of a housing shortage.

I don't understand how a land value tax would correct for the issue the original article outlines. That is, landowners will be the primary beneficiary of municipality improvements regardless of whether we have a land value tax or property tax.
