  That used to be The Big 8 and people knew of them as The Big 8, even me. I think that The Big 4 is used now with a tinge of irony. Arthur Andersen. Coopers and Lybrand. Deloitte Haskins and Sells. Ernst and Whinney. Peat Marwick Mitchell. Price Waterhouse. Touche Ross. Arthur Young.
