The causality goes the other way, I believe
We are no content powerhouse precisely because we are so concerned about all these bureaucratic things. Instead of just distributing better content more efficiently, we prefer to make it illegal to be better than the status quo.
Can't speak for all of Europe, but Internet-related legislation here in Germany has been a disaster since the mid-1990s.
- onlyrealcuzzo 8y agoWhich is especially interesting. Germany has probably the most investment in tech, and it has a very small movie industry, a nearly non-existent music industry, and hardly any internationally known writers. Germany also probably has the strongest tech industry in Europe. Or at least as strong as France and the UK, it seems.
