There is a known method for stopping people from drinking that involves the patient taking a drug which prevents any pleasure-able feelings from alcohol and then letting the person drink as much as they want. After the third or fourth time, the person naturally avoids it.
- refurb 8y agoAntabuse (disulfram) inhibits the acetaldehyde oxidase enzyme which is involved in the metabolism of ethanol to acetic acid. The result is a build up of acetaldehyde in the body which results in flushing, nausea and vomiting when drinking. Was discovered when workers in a tire factors would get sick when drinking. The sulfur compound added to tires was being absorbed.
