Why is Cmder not actually a terminal?

• nailer 8y ago
Because Cmder is actually: - Console emulator ~ Conemu - Cmd.exe enhancements ~ clink - Unix tools on windows ~ git for windows The Cmder website tells you this if you scroll down, but doesn't make it obvious. 'clink' in particular is of dubious utility - if you're using Windows, powershell is the default terminal, and powershell is one of Windows' best features.

Clink adds ctrl-D to cmd.exe, that alone puts it among the first 5 installs in a new system.

Ctrl+Z works mostly the same way, so besides the muscle memory of Ctrl+D I'm curious what else Clink's Ctrl+D adds?

I use Ctrl+D to close a terminal, Ctrl+Z does not do that. Or does it and it's always been prevented for me by clink?

Unix tools on Windows is why I install it. Cmder is the best thing ever.
