You can thank the FDA (plus the patent system) for that. If it wasn't so fantastically expensive to bring generic, age-old, drugs to the market in the U.S., there would be a lot more competition.
- sithlord 8y agoNot really sure why this matters in the case of insulin - the "good" modern-day insulins will never fall into generics because the companies have a backlog of incremental changes they hold on to until they need to renew a patent.
