Because software engineers how much they have to bullshit their work because management says so, and probably more than a few are knowingly working for "opt-out" products that forget the "out" and claim it's a bug when someone discovers their negligence.

Do you have a source for that? What data are they collecting maliciously? For example, what program(s) with telemetry are using it to exfiltrate my financial information or passwords?
