A template expander is indispensable for productivity. I have a perl script that expands text based on matching regular expressions. In this way I'm not tied to any particular editors: I wrap it in an AppleScript for a text service, and I wrap it in a shell script for working in Acme.
- mhd 8y agoOf course that doesn't get you niceties like jumping to different parts of the template and mirroring edits. But having it universally available might be worth the trade-offs. How do you invoke it in Acme? Tag item mouse-click for every expansion?
- jxy 8y agoJust option click the script name. The script look at the current window body, RE match dot or RE match texts right before the dot. The first match executes the associated action. It's basically an extended version of plumber.
