I would like to move computer science back to being strictly part of mathematics and make a computer science major's curriculum contain ⅓ of programming and ⅔ of CS theory and mathematics. Then we would need second-level/bachelor's CS degrees in polytechnic/vocational schools where it would be ⅔ of programming and ⅓ of CS theory and mathematics. Both would take at least four years and be much more merciless in letting students continue to the next year, i.e. no dumbing down of the courses.
