I'm also sceptical of the "cannabis is harmless" argument popular among advocates of legalization. no psychoactive substance is harmless or good for you generally speaking. having said that the most powerful organization in Germany fighting for legalization is the Hanfverband around Georg Wurth and they do avoid this simplistic stance. my position is that people should only be held accountable for harming others or risking doing so. for example by driving while intoxicated with whatever drug. but every adult should have the right to do with themselves whatever he or she pleases. from that perspective the question of whether weed is harmful becomes secondary and reduces to harm reduction and medical assistance.
