The article shed light on how an intelligent man adapted himself to get along and even thrive within, what seems from todays perspective to be a culture of incomprehensible evil. The parallel in todays social media 'echo chambers' and the clannish inability, by many of their denizens, to engage their opposition rationally even on any single issue.
