I partially look at hybrids and electric cars as a hedge against the possibility of Peak Oil making a significant difference in oil prices at some point in the next few years. Might happen, might not. Regardless, I get to drive a fun new toy -- I find the experience of driving a hybrid to be fun (the sound, instant torque, etc).
