I'm far more worried about the long-term consequences of raging inequality and climate change myself. I suspect I'm going to see both of those in my lifetime. I'm not so confident that I'll see an AGI in my lifetime, but even if I do, I'm not going to assume it has a hindbrain that drives it to maximize all the paper clips at our expense.
