just as another anecdote, we have had ours since launch and haven't had much issue with the joycons. I've had a small issue with the d-pad on the official pro-controller. But we bought a 3rd party pro controller this last Christmas and although it doesn't feel like it has the same quality, its been easier to be much more precise with it. Completely agree re: costs though. 80$ for the pro controller is 30$ too much. Joycons too.
