I wonder if this is a pointless ideology argument that isn't about micro-services vs monolith but actually about tooling. I work on a particularly nasty monolith and have similar complaints this person has about micro-services. On boarding is painful, logging is a mess. Performance testing specifically is a pain (even this monolith has various components and caches) Added to that we have recruitment issues because its not shiny despite the company culture being really sweet.
