In this list of 737 accidents, correct me if I'm wrong, seems that the crashes for similar reasons (shortly after takeoff) are 3 , not 2. There is other one (May 18, 2018 ) involving a 737-100/200 that seems strictly related to the other two by time and dynamic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_incidents_involving_the_Boeing_737 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_incident...
- disillusioned 8y agoThe 737-200 that crashed was a 40-year-old airframe, and the crash characteristics are only similar in that they all occurred shortly after takeoff. The 737-MAX-8 crashes occurred within 6 months of each other, both on a brand new airframe on a new aircraft with a new control and sensor system that produced VERY similar profiles in rapid climbs and descents that point to an issue with said new autopilot. The MAX-8 and the 200 are VERY different aircraft, even if they're fundamentally built around an original ancestor.
