One of the strategies that I'm thinking of to advance accessibility is to tout it as a way of cost-cutting. Blasphemy! How? Well because the major pain point I see in a11y is over-designing. Managers are being a control freak on the UX and designers are already overwhelmed by the newer features and ever-changing requirements and standards. Just give it up! Go back to a website with simple features and focus on what actually matters - clarity, relevance and easy workflow. I don't know if this works for other people but this is my take on a11y issues.
