Open source doesn't necessarily mean free to use.
You can view entire elastic search code on github, nothing is hidden from the users.
This way of licensing might be the only way an open source company can be truly profitable.
- weberc2 8y agoThey still make it available to most everyone free to use, as I understand it. They just don't want to do the legwork for their competitors.
