Thanks for the summary. I tuned out right in the beginning when the author claimed that OS Xs file system is "broken for use with git". I followed the reference and it turns out that git breaks when you upgrade to OS X 10.3. Which was released in 2003. So, seven years ago when people were upgrading to the then-new 10.3, git broke. Except it wasn't even around.
