Heh... reminds me of a startup from the dotcom era that I joined right when they were burning through their last millions. It was a hosted service aimed at telcos and claimed to handle thousands of active sessions per box. Except it was written in Perl and in reality didn't scale beyond 10 or 20 sessions. But it didn't matter a bit, because they had no customers. So, yeah, Perl :)
