It's the same as people calling tomatoes vegetables - technically wrong and no one cares.
- aplusbi 16y agoTomatoes ARE vegetables. They are also fruits. The noun "vegetable" doesn't have a strict definition and tomatoes fall into that classification. Botanically speaking they are berries.
- philwelch 16y ago"Vegetable" is a culinary distinction for plant matter eaten at dinner; tomatoes are vegetables. "Fruit" is a biological distinction for plant matter that contains seeds within an edible shell; tomatoes are fruits.
