i am one of those idiots who thought college was about knowledge, and it took me a long time to understand the "way of the world" you articulate here. with that said, i still find education valuable and have had lots of it by now. it took that plus time and life experience to be able to properly criticize education itself (so i'm nitpicking at your concluding line a bit).
