Independent retail isn't dead but it sure is limping. I've been trying to get a book from a local book store that specializes in computer shit for a week and a half now; they had to special order (even though it's not particularly obscure) and said it would be three to four days, but it still hasn't come in and I think they're getting annoyed with me checking in daily. If I'd bought it on Amazon, I could have had it within hours. But I wasn't really in a hurry and thought I'd support a local business. I'd probably do the same again, but I can see why many people don't want to put up with this.
