Is it just about purchasing access to certain consumer groups, or also a defensive move to preserve human cashiers jobs?
- maemilius 8y agoUnlikely. Self-checkout kiosks can process cash and give change just fine. My assumption is that this is to protect the buying power of the unbanked - which are predominantly low-income, as I understand it.
