I love the idea of subverting it by making a straight up better product in every way except price (and you can market around the price issue, "What you're too poor to afford a real truck? phh").
- thecynicc 8y agoRemember this is US you are talking about. You guys have really weird idea of HAS TO TOW WITH A PICKUP, even though a lot of typical EU sedans have better ratings for it. If you ever had to haul any kind of a trailer you know your fuel economy gets destroyed. Once, in my gas car I nearly ran out of fuel, because in a hilly terrain typically 100km reserve came on and the estimated range was instantly below 20 km And even if you are not towing a trailer, pretty much anything you put in the bed will wreck your (usually very low for EVs) air resistance coefficients and also murder your range. While the EV pickup could sell to city-dwelling hipsters, in US culture real-use it will fail badly. It's even more dumb than the Tesla Semi lul
