I have a hard time understanding all the negative reactions to this. I think it would be helpful if people separated the emotionally driven ideas of "friends" and "living together" with the more business driven idea of partnerships that acquire assets. I wish I would have never rented. It would be a huge advantage for anyone to accelerate their entry in to buying property by combining capital early on. Yes, you and your partners have to be grown up and treat it like a business - not like frat bro room mates. Yes, there is a risk that someone will not hold up their end of the deal but that is true with any business partnership, hence the need to choose your partners wisely. The bottom line is, this is a great way for people to impact their balance sheet significantly over their lifetime by starting early.
