Ask HN: Best Intro to Web Development Course?

I have a few friends interested in learning web development to solve some need for their respective business or academic pursuits. They are both late 20s or early 30s, non-technical but smart and competent within their domains. I'm technical but on the DevOps side of things, and they've asked me for advice on where to start. I built a few landing pages for side projects recently, but overall my knowledge of current frontend/web stacks is pretty limited. For the web developers here, where would you recommend someone start if they want to learn the basics of a modern web stack? If you learned web development recently, did you find a particular course especially helpful?
