Book review: This is your brain on music
This book, by Daniel J. Levitin, is an interesting mixture of psychology and music. He covers various theories about how music is remembered and recognized despite changes in tempo, pitch, or other factors. Do we remember songs "like a recording"? Or do we remember songs as fragments? The book is a very comprehensive discussion of how humans deal with music. I can highly recommend it.
