I am of the extremely unpopular opinion that USB 2.0 is plenty fast for my needs. For those who do need more than 450Mb/s, however, it seems logical to standardize on a single type-C connector. But with so many competing and superseding protocols implemented over the type-C cable, I feel like labeling should be mandatory so that users know what they can and can’t use a cable for (and don’t fry a power supply or run into incompatibilities).
