I grew up in a house like that, and I came out just fine, and with no financial support from my parents -- including for college tuition! I went to a reasonably priced local school, didn't live in a fancy dorm and took the public bus back and forth to school, home, and my job. What we need to do to address "inequality" is to tax this transfer of wealth as income so responsible self-sufficient people who didn't get this privilege won't have to unduly subsidize these same people when they hit retirement age and get themselves in the same underwater situation.
