Ask HN: Opportunities, working conditions etc in Canada/Australia?

Thinking of moving either to Canada or Australia. I'm interested in learning these - which cities are the tech hubs? from a purely job perspective, are there any specific technologies which can get me interviews/jobs easier? Attitude of companies towards remote working? Anything else that I'd need to know, from someone who moved there fairly recently?
