I still use mine. Especially for laundry detergent, I'm going to miss this.
Subscriptions are something I've tried a couple of times but have this problems for me:
- I don't know how often I need a lot of products. I could keep a spreadsheet for 6 months and figure it out but I don't want to do that.
- It's hard to remember "do I have a subscription for this?" so I wind up ordering anyways.
- jerf 8y agoThe key to subscription usage is actually to buy a bit more frequently than you need, and when too much of X piles up, you skip the next subscription delivery or two for that. Ideally you still have enough subscriptions in that delivery to receive the 15% off. I do it for a variety of vitamins that I need, so it's less of a big deal for me if I stack up a bit extra on one thing, because they're just pill-bottle sized. It's nowhere near as large as having 5 or 6 too many laundry detergent containers on hand or something. This is still non-zero maintenance, but it's less. I don't do it for the convenience anyhow, I do it for the discounts, especially for things that I can't get locally anyhow.
- ericcholis 8y ago100% this. I really want to take advantage of the subscriptions. But, I find it hard to "know" when I need to have something delivered. Plus, despite the very fast shipping for most things, I still need those baby wipes NOW.
- Touche 8y agoYeah this is something I should have mentioned. If you run out of something before your subscription redelivery date then the subscription is basically pointless. The entire point is to not have to think about buying something.
- josefresco 8y agoSilly question but do you feel "excited" when using it? The geek in me thinks I would, but after a few uses I can see it being boring and a non-event.
- Touche 8y agoNot as much as the first time, but sure. I only have 4 or 5 of them so its not like I use them every day. But getting the order email after using them still sparks a tiny bit of joy.
