I hope this will end up with a hefty penalty. At this point, I believe a strict regulation is the only way to tame the Facebook beast - the more so because I heavily really on FB to be in touch with my family and friends.
- koheripbal 8y agoIt might not given that the impetus of this change is to combat fake news and bot accounts from nation-states. ...so it might not be high on the target list for the EU since they are actively uncovering more influence operations. You have to realize that privacy is not a priority for most governments, so unless it's explicitly against the rules, I suspect they won't do much.
