The author states that many of the other cubesats were dead on arrival due to software bugs. Given these things cost so much, doesn’t it make sense to put an update framework into these?
From my understanding, most cubesats do not have propulsion. Can the software render them totally inoperable (other than draining power).
- okl 8y agoSome cubesats have deployable solar panels or antennas.
- planteen 8y agoYes, many cubesats need attitude control to point solar panels at the sun. This is usually done entirely in software. By the time you know there is a problem, your spacecraft is probably dead. You probably only have 60-90 minutes of battery life.
