I recently read 'Developer Hegemony' and remember a section where the author advised politely declining and suggesting that you may know some other (implied lesser) programmers who might be willing to jump through the arbitrary hoops. Fun in theory. In my opinion this approach will work about as well as the old "if we all stop paying our taxes they can't come after all of us" idea.
