- matchbok 8y agoPlease look up superficial in the dictionary.
- CompanionCuuube 8y agoIt's mind boggling that a criticism of the narrowness of a monoculture is being called superficial.
- crushcrashcrush 8y agoWelcome to HN!
- matchbok 8y agoBut, it's not monoculture. At all. You are making a judgement call with that. An extremely wrong one at that.
- CompanionCuuube 8y ago> But, it's not monoculture. At all. Then this part from the article didn't happen. >The lack of diversity doesn’t stop at work — it permeates every aspect of life. Everyone wears Patagonia and North Face, everyone has AirPods hanging from their ears, and everyone goes to Lake Tahoe on weekends. And everyone talks about the same things: startups, blockchain, machine learning, and startups with blockchain and machine learning.
- matchbok 8y agoThat's... not a monoculture. Why? Because someone's identity is not defined by what they wear or where they travel too. It's myopic and childish to think so.
- CompanionCuuube 8y agoYou conveniently neglected the last part of the quote where it also describe the narrow and unified interests as well. Are you now going to say someone's identity isn't defined by what interests them? Now that's myopic and childish.
- matchbok 8y agoLet's be honest here and admit that that piece was probably tacked on just to make it sound better. Try again.
- CompanionCuuube 8y ago"Let's be honest and say we know better about the primary source's experience than the primary source." Bravo.
- matchbok 8y agoYup, I will. Because the entire piece is disingenuous and self congratulatory.
