>The researchers point out that the gain in greenness seen around the world, which is dominated by India and China, does not offset the damage from loss of natural vegetation in tropical regions, such as Brazil and Indonesia.
So is it a net gain or not?
- badosu 8y agoIt is, although replacing forests with pastures should not be indicative of CO2 sequestration, but the opposite. In Brazil there's a biome called cerrado[0], characterized by low trees and shrubs, from the sky might seem brown but there's a lot of biodiversity and flora. Replacing it with soy fields should not be a net gain in my book. 0 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerrado https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerrado
