- lsh 8y ago"Files transferred over Shell protocol (FISH) is a network protocol that uses Secure Shell (SSH) or Remote Shell (RSH) to transfer files between computers and manage remote files." "The protocol was designed by Pavel Machek in 1998 for the Midnight Commander software tool." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Files_transferred_over_shell_protocol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Files_transferred_over_shell_p... Googling (or DDGing) for "fish://" is just maddening
- 0xcde4c3db 8y agoIt has native client support in Windows and macOS, which is kind of a big deal in some scenarios.
- rocky1138 8y agoFair, but typing fish://192.168.0.108 at home works out of the box for me in Linux (KDE).
- ErockSteady 8y agoRuns over https rather than ssh, so any routing you can do with http you can do with webdav. That makes it easy to add to your existing web security setup. I've found it to be super handy and wish more phone apps had export/import to/from webdav as options.
