- grawprog 8y agoI don't really like orange. I'm kind of colour blind. I find it hard to look at. It's not really red and green that bother me so much but certain shades of orange and yellowy-green side by side makes my brain hurt. They both just end up looking like a browny mud colour to me. I've just never been the biggest fan of orange.
- jlavine 8y agoI'd guess it has something to do with the fact that human skin tones all fall within some range of orange. This is the reason behind the pervasive use of orange and teal color grading in TV and movies: it accentuates the contrast between people and the rest of the scene.
- dahart 8y agoI came to the comment section to make this comment. I was surprised to find out that all skin is orange hue, even dark skinned people. This is one of the tricks of face detection algorithms, and it’s fun to take pictures of people and then extract the hue channel to see this in action. You can do it in any photo editing app by converting to HSV color space and then setting the S & V channels to 1.
- Fnoord 8y agoIt is also my favourite colour. I wear it a lot, and it is easy to combine with a lot of colors: teal, teal + green, red + yellow, or any combination of black, white, gray, and brown. Since I'm from The Netherlands me wearing orange quickly gets associated with loving my country, the royal family, the football team -- just to name a bunch. However, its none of that; it is the colour itself which I very much adore. It makes me happy seeing it, it reminds me of spring, and nostalgic.
