This is strange. While MNT Reform still uses the i.MX6QP which is much older, I haven't seen such bad UI performance on it. I've seen consistently better perf from Qt apps or SDL/GL stuff than Gnome on this platform, so I hope this won't become a problem.
Edit: What I wanted to say is that much better UI perf is _definitely_ possible on this chip.
- newnewpdro 8y agoIsn't the promise of gtk4 GPU-acceleration? Since that's still a WIP I presume the stack from the video is gtk3, so it's all being CPU-rendered except hopefully the compositing in phosh at least.
