I've seriously tried to read this and the notation is mathematical but poorly used and the whole article has no conclusion or point but serves to introduce another article.
- drdeca 8y agoAt first I thought you just meant that they used mathematical notation when it wasn’t helpful, but when I actually read it, I realized what you meant by “poorly”, and I agree with you. I might say that they _tried_ to use mathematical notation.
- chritchens 8y agoLook at the reply I gave to the user you replied to. I listed the parts of the sources I used. I found really difficult to find a unified notation, but that's the sense. Try to read the parts I listed, and check if it's more understandable to you. Apologies for the late reply. Technical problems.
- chritchens 8y agoI've really just followed the sources. More details: First source, Theory of Mechanism Design: chapter 3, point 3.1 - General Model. It sets a general model for mechanism design. See the reply above for more info. Second source, Trade-offs in Cost-sharing: chapter 1, point 1.3.1, for the intro to the problem; chapter 3, point 3.1.1 for the example. The argument is vast, and I needed to get a realistic idea of how much I understood. I had to split, but the next articles will be all on mechanism design anyway. If you have further questions, here to help. Apologies for the late reply. Technical problems
