YouTube only seems to do something when it's a controversy and Ad dollars are on the line. Putting out fire after fire I don't know how the CEO keeps her job. Daddyofive, weird children ASMR, elsa-gate, algorithm being 2 clicks away from weird obscure kid videos.
- minimaxir 8y agoThat is why tech journalism is very important!
- umeshunni 8y agoToo bad it doesn't exist.
- xxpor 8y ago>YouTube only seems to do something when it's a controversy and Ad dollars are on the line "Humans respond to incentives" isn't really surprising IMO.
- CyberDildonics 8y agoYou can hire firefighters, I would rather hire people who know how to build a house that doesn't burn down.
- pedrocx486 8y agoWorth mentioning PayMoneyWubby and his quest to find and show weird sh*t. It's plain crazy what YouTube hosts and some people barely know about.
- yesenadam 8y agoI watched a bit of one of his videos after it was linked to on here. So creepy! I can't imagine who watches and enjoys all his stuff. He was much creepier and more disturbing than any of the videos he played. Do he and his viewers frame it as investigation, news, valuable service to the community, or something? Just seemed creepy and exploitative (He makes money from showing videos and ranting about no-one should see them, I guess), porn for hypocritical prigs... Like those christians who spend their lives railing against porn and sin - not noticing they enjoy it on some level.
- pedrocx486 8y agoI don't enjoy it either, Reddit does seem to see it as someone "exposing youtube", credit where it's due he brought it to light, but that aside I agree, he's a creep.
- bschwindHN 8y ago> I can't imagine who watches and enjoys all his stuff I do. It's an act, and it's mostly just for entertainment and "look at this weird series of videos I found". On top of that, his entire channel has a running "inside joke" of him being a creep, and his audience often shits on him as part of this joke. It's all very self deprecating, but at this point I feel like I'm explaining a joke so I'll stop here.
- odorousrex 8y agoIt's self-deprecating, self-referencing and satirical - he is pretending to be a creep complaining about creepy videos as some sort of comment on YouTube and the personalities it enables by himself becoming one of those personalities. At least that's the way I understand it... Or maybe it's not that deep, and he's just a hypocritical creep. :)
