I worked retail, later I worked in factories. I almost had my hand torn off in a machine once. I dislocated my shoulder keeping a pallet from landing on a coworker. I passed out due to exhaustion and heat unloading trucks. I had customers punch me and spit on me working at a gas station. I mopped up piss and blood and tamped down dumpsters with my own feet. Blue collar work is brutal beyond belief and I don’t plan to go back if I can do anything to keep from doing so.
