The advice to just run to Windows for pro audio uses is really something I wouldn't like to be accounted for. Sure, I had a stable rig with tight MIDI and audio decades ago but I was a pretty huge geek and started with quality components to begin with (the Asus P2B was almost godlike in performance and stability) with of course just a bit of good old luck.
